Foreword

People new to the project, or Open Source generally, are encouraged to read Getting Answers by Mike Ash from Rogue Amoeba.

It provides some very good tips on effective communication with groups such as this one. Following the advice it contains will greatly increase the chance of a quick and helpful reply.

Finding Information

There are a number of ways and placing to get help with Pacemaker.

The first step should always be to visit the FAQ and Documentation pages.

Mailing Lists

The next best source of information is the project's mailing list. Before posting, please be sure to browse the archives to see if your question has already been answered :-)

The project's official mailing list is pacemaker@oss.clusterlabs.org (you'll need to subscribe in order to send messages) with a standard archive and a number of searchable ones at:

For historical reasons there is also plenty of good information on the Heartbeat mailing list

Additionally, the developers often hang out on IRC at irc://irc.freenode.org#linux-cluster. Stop by to say hello and let us know how we're doing.


Reporting Bugs

The Pacemaker bug tracking system is hosted by the Linux Foundation.

The product also supports supports voting, which we will use to help determine what order features/bugs are processed in.


Professional Support

  • SUSE/Novell supports Linux-HA for their Enterprise Server versions of Linux - includes DRBD
  • MultiNET Services GmbH employs Michael Schwartzkopff (author of the book "Clusterbau: Hochverfügbarkeit mit pacemaker, OpenAIS, heartbeat und LVS") and offers consulting and support service around Linux clusters (HA, LVS).
  • Heinlein Support offers trainings on Linux Clusters. Topics covered: heartbeat, openais, pacemaker, DRBD, cluster filesystems, shared data and the setup and integration of Linux Virtual Server (LVS) into a high the cluster.
  • LINBIT provides global support for DRBD, Linux-HA, Pacemaker and other HA-software suites. Philipp Reisner and Lars Ellenberg, the authors of DRBD, oversee LINBIT's Professional Services. In addition, they offer training services, certification, consultancy, and turnkey solutions around DRBD and Pacemaker.
  • B1 Systems provides support (troubleshooting, maintenance, debugging, ...), consulting and training for Linux clusters, load balancing, storage clusters, virtual system cluster and high availability. This includes Pacemaker, Heartbeat and LVS as well as various cluster filesystems (OCFS2, GPFS, GFS, ...).
  • Gurulabs offers trainings in the US on Linux Clusters. Topics covered: heartbeat, openais, pacemaker, DRBD, cluster filesystems, shared data and the setup and integration of Linux Virtual Server (LVS) into the cluster.
